RED Company performed the dance work “SKINS” at the University of Michigan, Dearborn, as part of the week long campus event “Body Image/Eating Disorder Awareness week," February 13-16, 2017. “SKINS” is a unique educational dance work that explores the topics of eating disorders and negative body image of both female and male genders in today’s society and delivers a powerful emotional message. “SKINS” was choreographed by Artistic Director Kelli Sanford. The performance was followed by an interactive discussion with viewers about the difficult topics of eating disorders and body image.

One of RED’s greatest prides is reaching out to improve the cultrual arts experience of the senior citizen community by conducting Outreach Performances to Nursing Homes around the Akron/Canton area.  RED’s professional and apprentice dancers perform vibrant, visual dance works that bring the joy and energy of dance performance to senior citizen residents.  RED serves senior citizens by making professional modern dance performance accessible for self enrichment and entertainment. RED believes it is of the upmost importance to ensure that contemporary dance reaches those senior citizens who are unable to travel to a formal performing arts theater setting by bringing dance to their residence.

TESTIMONIAL: "The Real Edge Dance Company performed at Windsong Care Center brought many smiles to our residents’ faces. The dancers were attentive to our residents and the performance was wonderful. It was a blessing that they provided this event for us for free as the activity budget for nursing homes is very limited at this time. The residents continued to talk about the event after the dancers left stating that it brought back many memories, they were beautiful and had so much talent, and they hoped they would be coming back at another time.”
